Be the Change.....

In Sunday school Liliana learned a beautiful story! I have heard this story before but it meant so much more coming from a 8 yr. old.

The Starfish Story

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a young child picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the child, he asked, "What are you doing?"
The child replied, " Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out.  If I don't throw them back, they'll  die."
" My child," the man said, "don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You can't make a difference!"

After listening politely, the child bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, the child said...."

" I made a difference for that one."

Liliana said to me "mom,  no matter how small or big we all can make a change in the world!"  I think it is so important that these are the life lesson we teach our children.  I know if I want my girls to grow up strong independent women that loves themselves and others.  I must be that in their life. I must be the change I want to see in their world.

Jonathan my husband has always said he must be the man and the husband that he wants for his girls. He must be the example of the expectations, of a man he wants his girls to marry. He wants them to know that their is a level of expectation and they are worthy of greatness. He must be the change he wants to see in their world.

One of my husbands favorite quotes is: " The integrity of a man is not what he does when others are looking but what he does when no one is looking."

To many young girls lack self confidence and think a man loves them  just because they say the words " i love you". Or don't realize how beautiful they are and how much they have to offer the world.  I know this Starfish story means so much on so many levels but Women we can be examples to all young girls.  Mothers we are the example of mothers to all children. Be the change you want to see in the world it's never to late. What ever journey you have walked to this point in your life has had a purpose to the next step you take. Embrace your life, it has a purpose.

God's purpose!

So every time you see a starfish remember the difference you can make even if it's only one person and that one person is
YOU!
