Jocelyn finished up Kindergarten. Our Jocelyn is a very independent child and I'm a hovering mother. So needless to say sometime we are at tug a war on how much I hover this child. She is my baby after all. And I make it clear to her no matter how big or small she will always be my baby. I begged to go to her class and help and I have to promise that I will only do what the teach tells me to do because we know I don't want to cramp this kindergartner's style. Except for the occasionally picture taking. Most of the time she is walking 3 ft. ahead of me in the hall or takes off with her friends so I have learned to keep up with her. One time I told her I was going in to help in her class and she told me I didn't need to because other mothers help enough.....that still wont keep me a way. She loves to socialize. Those that know me, you know where this personality comes from. It seems like this year went by so fast....! I often wonder why do they have to grow up so fast. But, that's LIFE! So, I have enjoyed everyday watching my kindergartner grow.
Flash back .......1st day of school!
Grandpa drove her on her first day in his motor home....she got to sit in the front because she was a big girl now.
And she's off..... Her first day already walking in front of us. Look how small she looks.
I think Daddy needed her hand more than she needed his!
In this picture she thought we were just gonna drop her off and not meet the teach..... Right!
She was so ready for school. Both of the girls didn't go to pre-school. I keep them home with us till kindergraten I figured time goes by so fast and we wanted to be the infulence in their life and to enjoy them a little longer before they had to go to school. It was great to spend time with Jocelyn well her sister was in school. Quality time the best time. She can't wait to go to school all day. I hope that attutide is the same in High School.
It didn't take long for her to make a friend. She makes friends where ever she goes and if there's no one to make friends with she makes up friends.
We didn't stay all day her first day, we did leave her even though we thought about staying.
Pick up time...she had a blast the first day. In fact she loved the whole school year. Everyday after that day she was ready to go to school.
This picture might mean nothing to you. But I hope that there is a crazy mom like me out there that can relate. I helped the teach the last 2 weeks of school. The teacher asked me to clean all the tables and that included taking the names off of where each child sat. So, I did riped names off 4 tables piece of cake....till I got to my Jocelyn's table.... What is my problem it's just a name tag. I pulled myself together from another mommy moment took a picture and riped her name tag off.
She loved to take her teacher gifts!
She made tons of friends and had a ton of fun did she learn......
The last week of school.
She wrote in her journal about graduation. The day before graduation. She has learned to tune me out as I snap away!
Those who look close and know her friend Frankie yes that's him and her holding hands, in the picture in the lower right corner.
The Big Day!
Yes, I cried most of the day!
We almost had a fashion clash. Jocelyn almost wore the same dress as the little girl with the pink head band. last second I decided to put her in a different dress! Good ....call mom! Although, when Jocelyn saw her friend she said they could of been twins.
This picture was taken when I was being the good parent siting in my chair three rows back and on the opposite side. That didn't last long I got up and walked to the front for some better shots.
Cheering on her classmates
Cup cake celebration... And FYI Jocelyn and I made these special cupcake for this special day. No special recipe or anything good old Betty Cooker cake mix and frosting. But special because Jocelyn frosted them with her heart and her clothes that's why they were special. Sorry no pictures of the mess. I was slipping on the picture taking part of baking ....actually the truth is we were running late I didn't have time to take a picture of the mess she made because I didn't bake the night before but the day of.
Trinity and Jocelyn very good friends. They would hug each other every time they saw each other. All the girls in the class got along great the teacher commented all year how well they all played together. Except for one drama day! Jocelyn came home from school in tears because one of the girls said she no longer wanted to be her friend. She was crushed....ohh my if she is this crushed of a friend I don't want to see a boy crush her heart. I asked Jocelyn why would that little girl say that and she said she didn't know. But the next day the little girl forgot they weren't friends and Jocelyn came home happy she had a friend again.
Friend Drama in kindergarten!!!
I wonder if her checks were beginning to hurt from smiling so much!
Now, I couldn't let the school year end without a picture of her and her buddy Frankie. I'm not encouraging anything. But the laws of nature exists. We heard alot of Frankie and thought it was a girl. Till we found out it wasn't. She came home with a sticker that she hide in her dresser. It was found by her Dad which if she wouldn't of grabbed it out of his hand he would of over looked it. He asked her where she got it and she said Frankie. Jonathan's heart sunk! He told me she is in kindergarten!!! I told him it's nothing to worry about! On the last day of school Jocelyn was fashionably late by 5 mins. When she walked in she was greeted byyyy ....Frankie he told her she looked pretty and gave her a hug. She looked back at me and smiled. OHHH NO we are in trouble. Homeschooling is really sounding good right now. When I took the picture, Frankie's mom and I meet for the first time. She had said she has heard a lot about Jocelyn. We laughed and joked. But as we walked away I said " Ok it's kind of cute now but when they are 13 ... we have to talk and I don't think I will be laughing" She laughed and said me either we'll talk when they are 13. Both of the Dads didn't understand any of what we were talking about. Jonathan said there will be no reason to talk cause we will be homeschooling. HAHAA!
All and All they to grow up! And one day she wont be my little girl but today she is.
She is so excited to be a 1st grader but I told her she isn't a 1st grader till the first day of school. I want to hold on to my kindergartner just a few more months.
Mrs. Kano and Jocelyn
What a blessing it is to have a teacher that loves what she does. Jocelyn loved Mrs. Kano as her teacher. And Jocelyn learned so much in her class. Mrs. Kano has a strong belief that all of the kids in her class are unique and special and she always allowed them to be themselves. Thank you Mrs. Kano for being a teach that I know has planted one of many seeds in our Jocelyn's heart.
Sister Guess WHAT?
I graduated from Kindergarten......
Cool good job.....
I'm Soooo Proud of you LIL SIS!
Liliana our sweet, go with the flow, shy and loud child, that loves dirt and make up. She is going from 2nd to 3rd grade. Even though she is my oldest every time I look in to her face I see the baby I held on the day she was born. Do all mom feel this way? If not please let me know so I can get some help....lol!!!
Liliana's 1st day of 2nd grade!
She colored her own school bag and went shopping for the perfect outfit with her Grandma. She was so excited about her shirt and skirt that I didn't have the heart to tell her didn't match but it worked
First day of school a family affair!
She is our "Nemo" our little fish in a big ocean.
She loves recess and PE.... now if we can get her to like everything else. She loves the weekends!
As you can see she love tether ball. She even has on at home.
Cup cakes for her Birthday. I wonder if in 3rd moms still bring cup cakes? Please don't burst my bubble and tell me they don't. I promise I wont embarrass her, her whole life.
Why.... do they like the bus? I don't know but it works in my favor. You want to take the bus clean you room.
On the last day of school...I was at the school and they begged to take the bus. The last bus ride of the year ... how can I deny them of that.
At the beginning of the school year she wanted to sleep in. An ongoing question every night do I have school tomorrow.
By the end of the year she loved school.
She found a passion for reading. It was so awesome for us to see her reading, then laughing at what ever she was reading. She is so smart!!! We were so proud of her when she finished her first chapter book.
I'm telling you Smart!!! I wander where she gets if from. Not me I'm sure you have found a hundred misspelled words on my blog.
For a shy girl she made a lot of friends. She had a great teacher or brave teacher who allowed 6 girls to sit at one table. Liliana said they chose where they sat.
This was another brave move on the teachers part ice cream, cookies, candy and peanut butter crackers. Can you say sugar rush!
Last day of school
Wow... Look how much she has grown over the school year.
After school she ask me if next year instead of wearing a dress on the last day of school if she can wear a tee shirt for everyone to write on. I told her that is a whole year away I'll think about it. I mean we just finished 2nd grade and your talking about when you finish 3rd grade.
What a way to finish the last day of school. They watched a movie and eat junk.
Liliana said this was her best year in school. She really enjoyed Mrs. Potter as a teacher. We are so thankful to Mrs. Potter she really helped our shy Liliana come out of her shell. She encouraged and loved all of her students. Liliana found herself enjoying school because she had a teacher that enjoyed what she did. We owe Mrs. Potter a huge Thank You! I think teachers aren't thanked enough for what they do.... After all they spend 8 hours a day with our children. Thank you Mrs. Potter for challenging us as parents with some of the homework. Can't wait to see 3rd grade homework. Mrs. Potter your truly are a special teacher that has planted one of many seeds that we know will grow into greatness in our Liliana. Thank You!
Schools out see you all next year!
